Donate to Toys for Tots Thursday at The Pit and Receive Discounted Tickets
The New Mexico women's basketball team will host New Mexico State Thursday inside The Pit at 7:30 p.m. MT. The Lobos and Aggies continue the Rio Grande Rivalry live on the Mountain West Sports Network with Tracy Warren and Ann Schatz calling the action. New Mexico enters the game with a 6-1 overall mark while NMSU is 3-3. The game will be available on 610 AM The Sports Animal while gametracker and video steaming will be online at www.GoLobos.com. Newsradio 770 KKOB will be the media sponsor while Route 66 Casino and Hotel is the game sponsor.

The Lobos fell behind Drake by 16 points in the second half before staging a rally that the Bulldogs stalled with timely free throws down the stretch. UNM senior Daniel Faris topped the Lobos in scoring with 14 points. The Lobos drop to 3-4 on the season heading into Saturday's game in The Pit with Southern Mississippi.

It is official. The University of New Mexico volleyball team will have to wait another year for a shot at its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1994. During tonight's selection show on ESPNU, "New Mexico" did not appear on the bracket.

University of New Mexico senior linebacker Zach Arnett was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team this morning. Arnett, who expects to graduate in May with a degree in History, has compiled a 3.88 grade point average. The Albuquerque La Cueva product recorded a career-high 92 tackles, including 11.0 for loss, and is tied for the national lead with six forced fumbles.

New Mexico junior Amy Beggin and UNLV senior Shamela Hampton have been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Beggin averaged 18.7 points last week and helped the Lobos go 3-0 with victories over Utah Valley, William and Mary and Nebraska. Beggin, who has scored in double figures every game this season, scored 17 points and a season-high nine rebounds against Utah Valley and a season-high 20 points against William and Mary.

Luna, an Albuquerque Academy product, will run her 23rd and final race on Monday morning when the 21st-ranked Lobos compete at the NCAA Championships in Terre Huate, Ind.
